Hi, I'm Ted

Hi, I'm Ted, a Massage Therapist and Holistic Health Care Provider on a mission to help you discover a new sense of well-being. My practice is grounded in the time-tested principles of Chinese Medicine - Yin/Yang, 5 Phases, and 6 Qi - and I specialize in alleviating chronic pain with the help of a variety of bodywork modalities.

I am also certified as a Diplomate in Canonical Chinese Medicine® (DCCM®) from the Institute of Classics in East Asian Medicine® (ICEAM®) following a style of Chinese Medicine wholly based on the canonical writings of the Chinese Han dynasty. As a DCCM®, I have the most authentic and effective herbal medicine system currently available for use.

Every individual has a unique story, intricately woven into their bodies and emotions. I am dedicated to helping you unlock your body's innate ability to heal and thrive. My journey is founded on adaptability and a holistic approach to pain management. I'm here to guide you toward a life of wellness and vitality.

Transform your Pain

I'm here to support your journey.
It all starts with your first appointment.

My Approach

My approach is about expanding spatial awareness, acknowledging less as more, and discovering areas of comfort. I focus on distraction, desensitization, and symptom modification. My goal is neuromuscular re-education, unwinding tension patterns, and creating a sense of safety while moving in a direction of ease.

I firmly believe in the remarkable capacity of our bodies to adapt and heal. Together, let's harness this natural resilience to empower you to overcome challenges and obstacles.

Embracing Adaptability

Pain is rarely an indicator of tissue damage. I'm here to challenge conventional beliefs about pain and help you understand its complex nature, differentiating between discomfort and actual harm. Pain is important, but it can't be in charge; it's more about sensitivity than damage.

Rethinking Pain

Posture is not simply "good" or "bad." Instead of labeling postures, I emphasize mindful movement. Let's explore how prolonged periods in certain postures under tension can affect your mobility and work towards fluid, pain-free motion.

Posture & Movement

I don't believe in cookie-cutter solutions. My guidance is tailored to your specific needs, embracing a bio-social approach that takes into account both biological and social factors influencing your well-being. Ticky-tacky guidelines have no place here. You are in control, both the lock and the key.

Curiosity

I have a bio-psycho-social perspective and embrace the unknown. Let's explore the power of uncertainty together. While I don't claim to have all the answers, I'm committed to embarking on a journey of discovery and learning with you.

I understand the impact of language, and I believe in fostering a positive and empowering dialogue around your body. Just as the human body is robust, our approach to healing should be resilient and nurturing. Words like "fix," "broken," "good," and "bad" out to be reconsidered.

Words Matter

Zen Style Interior

My main approach in my practice is a collaborative effort with my patients, moving towards a sense of ease. In a session with me, you can anticipate a blend of techniques from my toolkit, including Sotai, Teishin (surface needling), Cranial Sacral, Active Isolated Stretching, Trigger Point, Breathing, Movement Awareness, Mindfulness, and Herbal Medicine. These approaches are guided by the principles of Classical Chinese Medicine.

Patients often undergo a diverse range of transformations, ranging from relief of physical pain to emotional and mental healing. Many have reported increased flexibility, strength, and an overall sense of well-being. Some have successfully overcome chronic conditions and illnesses. The key lies in listening to your body and working with it, not against it.

My fascination with the movement of the body dates back to my upbringing in sports. This curiosity led me to a career where I initially sold and fitted shoes, often encountering individuals with foot pain. Connecting with people and relieving their pain became my focus over merely selling products. After recovering from a significant accident that left me in extreme physical and emotional pain for almost five years, I was introduced to Chinese Medicine. This period solidified my understanding of the interconnectedness of the body and mind, forming the foundation of my practice. Using myself as a subject, I learned to heal physically, mentally, and emotionally, gaining firsthand awareness of suffering.

Hooked on Chinese Medicine from a classical perspective during my recovery, I felt compelled to share my experiences with others dealing with pain. As a healthcare practitioner, personal growth is crucial, and I've developed acute knowledge of this concept. Continually expanding my knowledge, I explore various subjects and perspectives to challenge any stubborn views. My primary principle as a practitioner revolves around influencing the body's resistance to change, often realizing that it takes very little to instigate.

I've learned from some of the best practitioners globally and remain committed to benefiting someone's situation, adopting a "more with less" approach. Whether you seek easier breathing, relaxation, health maintenance, release of imbalances, increased flexibility, freedom of movement, relief from chronic aches and pains, or restoration of organ function, I'm here to assist you.
